Garda Plast and Gruber Logistics agreement with Lenovys support
Gruber Logistics, a South Tyrolean transport and logistics company with a turnover of €340 million and 24 offices located in Asia and Europe, has acquired a branch of Garda Plast SpA “Fourth Party Logistics Provider” for more efficient and structured management of the logistics chain.
Lenovys, a consulting and training company specializing in integrated solutions for Business Evolution, supported Garda Plast –through Engineer Matteo Gottardi, Principal Lenovys – in drafting, implementing the project, defining the performance indicator system, and monitoring the new contract.
The 4PL formula represents a new way of conceiving the partnership between customer and supplier, where the logistics operator contributes with his experience to optimize customer stocks and internal processes, even going so far as to centrally manage the different suppliers of the customer company.
The Garda Plast Group (consisting of Garda Plast SpA and Ifap SpA, acquired in 2018), owned by the Progressio Investimenti II Private Equity Fund, managed by Progressio SGR, produces PET preforms and bottles intended for producers of mineral waters, soft drinks, milk, oil, detergents, and cosmetic products. With a turnover of over 80 million euros and 3 billion preforms produced annually, the company represents one of the largest players in the sector in Italy. There are also approximately 4,000 bilicas loaded annually and 2,270 containers entering each year.
This is therefore an important commercial synergy that will further strengthen the competitive advantage of both companies. On the one hand, GRUBER Logistics will have the opportunity to present itself on the market as one of the few logistics suppliers in Italy capable of operating with the 4PL formula (currently still little known and applied). On the other hand, Garda Plast, following major internal reorganization processes, will be able to accelerate its growth process by enjoying the advantage of entrusting the management of its supply chain to a single logistics operator.
